A CBI special court here Wednesday dismissed the bail application of Central Excise Commissioner A.K. Srivastava allegedly involved in a graft case.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge Talwant Singh denied bail to the excise commissioner accepting the prosecution’s submission that he could tamper with the evidence if released on bail.

Srivastava had requested the court to release him on bail since he was undergoing treatment in jail hospital, after angioplasty.

According to the CBI, a central excise team led by Central Excise Superintendent Lallan Ojha raided a warehouse of Dilip Aggarwal and Anand Aggarwal but then negotiated a deal for illegal gratification.

The court earlier cleared the way for trial of Ojha, the two businessmen and a middleman. The CBI said Srivastava was the mastermind of the deal.
