Although it has not yet been revealed to which jail Khan will be sent, the court directed the authorities to take adequate measures regarding the threat to Khan’s life.
Khan’s lawyer I.P. Bagaria told the court that there is a threat to his client’s life.
The court has also allowed home cooked food and medicines to be given to Khan.
Khan’s custodial remand to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) ended Thursday.
Khan’s close associate, Kolkata-based businessman Kashinath Tapuriah was also arrested by the ED Thursday. The sessions court later remanded Tapuriah in ED’s custody till March 30.
Khan is suspected to have stashed away around $8 billion in Swiss bank accounts, transferring cash and assets out of the country through dubious means and evading taxes on income with a suspected liability of over Rs.40,000 crore.
