Justice Naidu commission submits final report

The justice A S Naidu Commission probing into alleged police assault on a judicial magistrate in April 2011, today submitted its final report (which is 465-page document to) the state government.

The first class judicial magistrate (JMFC), Rourkela, Arun Kumar Patnaik was allegedly assaulted by police at Udit Nagar Police station in Rourkela on April 2, 2011.

The incident triggered a state-wide agitation forcing the state to appoint a one-man commission of inquiry to probe into the matter on April 16 comprising Justice A S Naidu.

The Uditnagar IIC Sadananda Pujari was placed under suspension following the incident.

In his FIR, Pattnaik had said that on the night of April 2, he was taken forcefully to the Uditnagar police station, physically assaulted and abused by the police.

According to the Commission Secretary Kashinath Panigrahi, “I have handed over the final report of the commission’s finding to the principal secretary of home department.”
