In a bid to keep the Bihar capital clean and garbage free, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to impose a Rs.100 fine for spitting, urinating and littering and a Rs.200 fine for throwing garbage in public places.

PMC commissioner K. Senthil Kumar, who issued the directive, told IANS here Tuesday: ‘It will be effective from Feb 25. It will keep Patna clean and garbage free.’

He also said that people found washing utensils, clothes and vehicles in public places and not keeping their by-lanes clean would have to pay fines.

He said action would be taken against concerned officials for not implementing the new rule.

‘Spitting, urinating, littering and throwing garbage in public are bad habits. People should come forward to help the PMC to check it,’ he said.
