BJP leader Rajnath Singh Saturday advocated the introduction of Hindi and other Indian languages in the Supreme Court of India.

Singh, who was the chief guest at the Annual Seminar of Bar Association of National Capital Region in Ghaziabad said that he was in favour of Hindi and other Indian languages in the Supreme court and the high courts where only the English language is allowed for lawyers to plead their cases.

“I was surprised when I came to know that the lawyers were allowed to plead the cases in English only in the Supreme Court of India. This practice is applicable in High Courts also,” said the former National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“When Hindi and other Indian languages are allowed in Parliament debates, why are they not allowed in the Supreme Court and High Courts in states?” questioned Singh.

“Language is not merely a way of communicating but is a strong tool of presenting the basic culture of Indian society. So, Hindi and other Indian languages should be inducted in the Supreme Court and High Courts of Indian states,” said Singh.

“A law should be made to induct Hindi and other languages in the Supreme Court and High Courts of states,” added Singh.
