A Special Protection Force (SPF) Constable Rajesh attempted suicide by his service revolver at the Secretariat premises in the early hours today.
Police here said Rajesh, who was on duty, had tried to shoot himself near the Nalla Pochamma Temple located in the Secretariat.
He was admitted in the Apollo Hospital immediately and his condition was stated to be serious.
Though, Rajesh maintained that it was an accident, his colleagues were of the view that he might have attempted suicide because of family troubles.
Rajesh, a native of Nellore district, had joined the duties at the Secretariat recently.
SPF DG TP Das visited Rajesh in the hospital.
