A trial court Wednesday dismissed a petition of Janata Party leader Subramaniam Swamy seeking his appointment as the special public prosecutor in the 2G spectrum cases.

‘It is the prerogative of the central government to appoint special public prosecutor. The government has appointed U.U. Lalit as directed by the Supreme Court in its order April 11,’ said Special CBI Judge O.P. Siani.

Swamy in his petition filed before the court said that he would like to be the public prosecutor or an adviser to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Terming his application as ‘not tenable in law’, the court said, it is cannot be accepted.
