The last two decades have seen far reaching changes in the socio – economic milieu and the legal environment of the country in keeping with advances globally. We are now a society full of youthful aspirations which is no longer prepared to accept fate as pre-ordained; a society which firmly believes that success and justice come to all those who realize their potential and are aware of their rights. This attitudinal transformation has ushered in laws that have a fundamental impact on areas as diverse as investment, the rights of women, the right to information, the environment, land acquisition and the right to education. Mahatma Gandhi had said: “We must become the change we want to see in the world”. It is this vision of the Mahatma that shapes the objectives and the pedagogy of the Raffles University School of Law. Through our intensive and integrated five-year training programme, we develop and mould lawyers who have the professional wherewithal and are mentally prepared to effectively address the numerous current and evolving challenges that the practitioner of law must face today. We propose that the alumni of the School of Law should be well versed not only in the letter but also the spirit of the law so that they mature as successful as well as ethical lawyers ready to take their place, with pride, in the legal fraternity.
