Background
1. The Applicant filed an RTI application dt.10.1.09 with the CPIO, DoP,
Dehradun. He requested for information against 7 points with regard to the
delay in payment of KVP claim of his deceased mother. The CPIO replied on
9.3.09 providing point wise information. Not satisfied with the reply, the
Applicant filed an appeal dt.17.3.09 with the Appellate Authority. The
Appellate Authority replied on 1.4.09 providing the necessary clarifications.
Not satisfied, the Applicant filed a second appeal dt.29.5.09 before the CIC.
2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner, scheduled the
hearing for August 24, 2009.
3. Mr.R.S.Meena, CPIO; Mr.Vijay Kumar, Inspector of Posts’ and Mr.Anil Kumar
Singh represented the Public Authority.
4. The Applicant was tried over phone but could not establish contact.
Decision
5. The Respondent submitted that the RTI application was forwarded on 20.1.09
to the CPIO, Bareilly which was received on 27.1.09. The information had to
be collected from different branches under the Regional Office and on 19.2.09
after getting information from the branches that no information exists with
anyone of them, the RTI application was forwarded to CPIO, Muzaffarnagar.
He added that the Applicant being one of the two sons of the deceased is
claiming the money. Since he did not produce any certificate that he is the
sole heir of the deceased, his share of the amount was paid on 24.6.09.
6. Since the grievance of the Appellant has been redressed and available
information has been provided, the appeal is accordingly disposed of.
