5 17/8/2010 This petition under Article 226 of the
Constitution is brought in public interest. It is the
grievance of the petitioner, a practicing lawyer in this
court, that in spite of wide spread malarial epidemic in
the State, the State Government has failed to take
appropriate measures for eradication of malaria.
Ineligible personnel are appointed while trained
personnel working on daily wages have been discharged.

The petition is contested by the State Counsel.
A counter affidavit has been filed to indicate that the
malaria eradication programme is sponsored by the
Central Government. Under the said programme

seasonal appointments are made. At present,
appointments of Multi Purpose Workers, Lab
Technicians, Kalazar Technical Supervisors etc., have
been made.

In view of the aforesaid statements made by
the State Counsel, no further action is required.

The petition is disposed of. Notice is
discharged.
