ORDER
The Commission has received a petition from Smt. Shyamali Bhoumik, stating that /hisher
RTI-application of 04/08/2009 filed with the CPIO, LIC of India, Divisional Office, Lucknow,
has not been responded to within the time limit prescribed under the RTI-Act 2005. A copy of his
her RTI-application is enclosed.
2. The Commission has decided to treat this petition as a complaint under Section 18 of the
RTI-Act, 2005, and hereby directs the Public Information Officer, to take action as mandated under
the RTI Act 2005.
3. Since the PIO has failed to respond to the RTI-application mentioned above in time, he/she
is, therefore, required to send his/her explanation in writing by 01/10/2010 to show cause as to
why a penalty of Rs.25,000/-for delay in supply of information may not be levied upon him/her.
He/she should also appear before this Commission at N.I.C. Video Conferencing, Room No.-110,
1st Floor, Yojana Bhawan No.-9, Sarojini Naidu Marg, Lucknow-226001 (Contact Officer –
Mr. Diwan Singh & Contact Nos.:0522-2238950 / 2238059 Ext.-15) on 05/10/2010
at 12:45 pm along with all the relevant files/documents.
4. For this hearing, he/she may bring along with him/her other officials whose assistance has
been sought for replying to the RTI-application.
5. In case the complainant receives the desired information he/she may also inform to the
Commission through Fax (Fax no. is given above). If the complainant does not receive the desired
information, in response to the present order of the Commission, he/she may also be present during
the hearing at N.I.C. Video Conferencing, Room No.-110, 1st Floor, Yojana Bhawan No.-9,
Sarojini Naidu Marg, Lucknow-226001 (Contact Officer – Mr. Diwan Singh & Contact
Nos.:0522-2238950 / 2238059 Ext.-15) on 05/10/2010 at 12:45 pm.
