Title: Need to provide benefits to the employees of Salem Refractory Unit of Burn Standard Company Limited at par with the employees of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

SHRI S. SEMMALAI (SALEM): Even after taking over of Salem refractory unit of Burn Standard Company Limited (BSCL) by Steel Authority of India (SAIL), the employees related issues still remain unsettled in providing relief and concessions to employees of BSCL like pay revision and increase in superannuation age from 58 to 60 to enable the employees of BSCL Salem Unit to get benefits which are enjoyed by SAIL employees. Workers of both the units should enjoy equal privileges. So, employees and workers of BSCL should also be given the same benefits as given to their counterparts in Salem Steel Plant i.e. equal pay scale and enhancement in retirement age.

I make a special appeal to the Hon’ble Minister of Steel through this august House to ensure that workers of BSCL are given equal rights and privileges in respect of service conditions and monetary benefits as enjoyed by the workers of Salem Steel Plant. I hope, my appeal will be heeded and the workers will be relieved of their anxiety.
