                         S. SIRI JAGAN, J.
                 ------------------------------------
                    W.P.(C)NO.6461 OF 2007
                   ----------------------------------
DATED THIS THE 27th DAY OF JULY, 2007

                             JUDGMENT

The petitioner applied for writing the final year B.A. Degree

Examination, which started on 6.3.2007. Now it appears that the

petitioner did not put in sufficient attendance for enabling her to

appear for the Examination. This Court had by order dated 6.3.2007

directed the appropriate authority to consider the petitioner’s

application for condonation of shortage of attendance. Now it turns

out that the petitioner had only twenty two days of attendance during

the whole year which is far below the condonable limit even by the

Syndicate. The petitioner now submits that the petitioner may be

allowed to write the next examination.

2. I am not inclined to take a sympathetic attitude towards

the petitioner as requested by the petitioner since, if the same is

allowed, similar requests of students without attending classes, also

cannot be denied. I am of opinion that in education matters a strict

view has to be taken, especially in view of the dwindling standard of

education in the State. Therefore, I am not inclined to entertain this

writ petition. The petitioner may complete the studies after putting

W.P.(c)No.6461/07 2

sufficient attendance and write the examination again.

Accordingly, the writ petition is dismissed.
