Title : Need to formulate a policy for providing adequate compensation to farmers affected by militant activities in Jammu & Kashmir.
DR. MIRZA MEHBOOB BEG (ANANTNAG): During last 20 years Kashmiri farmers lost Rs. 1200 crore due to eruption of militancy. Security forces had to come to civilian areas to handle an extra-ordinary law and order situation which prevailed there. In the process forces had to occupy orchards, cultivated land and even private residential Houses to deal with the situation. Government has yet to formulate a policy to pay adequate compensation uptill now and devise a policy so that orchard owners, farmers and others don’t suffer more.
