This writ petition has been filed challenging the Notification, dated 15.9.1997, issued by the Registrar i/c & Returning Officer, Bharathidasan University for the Election to the Senate by the registered graduates.
2. The learned counsels appearing for the respondents had submitted that after the filing of the writ petition, the Election had been conducted and the fourth and fifth respondents had been elected.
3. It is further submitted that according to Section 20(7)(i) of The Bharathidasan University Act, 1981, the elected members of the Senate would hold the office only for a period of three years and in such circumstances, the writ petition has become infructuous.
4. Based on the above submissions, the writ petition is dismissed as infructuous. No costs.
