Title: Need to provide more railway facilities at Udupi railway station in Karnataka-Laid.
SHRI VINAY KUMAR SORAKE (UDUPI) : I rise to plea for all-round development of Udupi Railway Station on the newly commissioned Konkan route, which serve as the hub for a vast hinterland of Dakshin Coastal Karnataka.
There is a demand from the public that 2430/2431 Trivandrum-New Delhi Rajdhani Express should have brief stopover at Udupi. Further reservation quota for all important trains passing through Udupi importantly Mangala Express connecting the national capital and the Trivandrum Rajdhani Express connecting New Delhi, should be enhanced in all classes.
Passenger amenities at Udupi station should also be enhanced including retiring rooms, waiting rooms, a Yatri Niwas for the benefits of Pilgrims/tourists passing through Udupi. I urge the Railway Ministry to include adequate provisions in the current budget for development of Udupi Railway Station.
