Background
1. The Applicant filed an RTI application dt.18.2.09 with the CPIO, DoP,
Faridabad. He requested for information against 22 points related to the
functioning of Hasanpur Post Office with reference to the Citizens charter. On
not receiving any reply, he filed a complaint dt.6.4.09 before the CIC. The
CIC vide order dt.18.6.09 directed the PIO to provide information to the
complainant by 15.7.09 and also to showcause why a penalty of Rs.
250/- per day should not be imposed on him for not furnishing the
information within the statutory period of one month.
2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner, scheduled the
hearing for July 31, 2009.
3. Mr.Bhushan Kumar Malik, CPIO and Mr.Chander Kailash represented the
Public Authority.
4. The Applicant was not present during the hearing.
Decision
5. The Respondent submitted that the information has been provided on
18.3.09. He exhibited the RTI register in which the Public Authority writes
down the dates on which RTI applications are received and dispatched and
pointed out the entry date of this RTI request and the entry showing the date
on which it was replied to. The Respondent added that after receiving the CIC
order dt.18.6.09, the same information was provided once again on 7.7.09
by Regd. Post to the Complainant.
6. Since the information has been provided and the Complainant has not
responded, it is assumed that he is satisfied with the information and the
complaint is accordingly disposed of.
