Decision No. CIC /WB/C/2008/00694/SG/1594
Complaint No. CIC/WB/C/2008/00694/SG
Complainant : Mr. A.K. Singla,
45/Sukhdham,
Sector-09, Rohini,
Delhi-110085
Respondent : Public Information Officer
Municipal Corporation of Delhi,
Vigilance Department, 16, Rajpur Road,
Civil Lines, Delhi-110054
Facts
arising from the Complaint:
Mr. A.K.Singla had filed a RTI application with the PIO, Vigilance Department,
MCD on 01/07/2008 asking for certain information and had sent an IPO of Rs. 20 in the
name of “Public Information Officer: MCD: Delhi”. The PIO by his letter dated
17/07/2008 asked the complainant to send an IPO of Rs. 10 payable to “MCD”. It is
against this letter that the complainant has come in complaint before the Commission.
Decision:
Complaint Dismissed.
Since, the IPO was in the name of the wrong authority and also it was in excess of
the amount required to be paid as fees, it was returned by the PIO. The PIO at no point
has refused to give information to the Complainant. He has only asked for the correct
amount of fees to be paid in the name of the correct authority. Thus, the Commission sees
no reasons for interfering with the PIO’s reply dated 17/07/2008.
