Title : Regarding need to wider the NH-47 in Angamaly-Mannuthy and Mannuthy-Valayar sections in Kerala.
SHRI LONAPPAN NAMBADAN (MUKUNDAPURAM): Sir, I rise to bring to the notice of the House about the matter concerning the widening of the National Highway-47 in the Angamaly-Mannuthy and Mannuthy-Valayar sectors in Kerala. I would request that action in the matter should be expedited and construction initiated at once.
In the Moothakunnam-Edappilly sector of National Highway-17 land was acquired 25 years ago to widen the road. In this sector also, construction activity should be taken up at the earliest. While acquiring land, the land owners, tenants and shopkeepers should be given adequate compensation. On National Highway-47 the bridge over Chalakudy river is in a very dangerous and dilapidated condition. Its repair work should be taken up urgently and at the same time a new bridge constructed in its place.
