Dated this the 7th day of July, 2008

                       JUDGMENT

Petitioners are Head Nurses in the Health Services

Department and they are eligible for promotion to the post

of Nursing Superintendent Grade-II. They are aggrieved

by the fact that though there are vacancies in the

promotion post, steps have not been taken to fill up the

same. Reference is made to the fact that all the

petitioners have a very short duration in service before

their retirement.

2. On instructions, learned Government Pleader

submits that the second respondent has prepared a list of

25 Head Nurses eligible for promotion to the Nursing

Superintendent Grade-II and they are contemplating

provisional promotion.

3. Having heard the learned counsel for the parties,

writ petition is disposed of directing the first respondent

to take a decision in the matter of issuance of orders of

W.P.(C).20238/2008

provisional promotion for the eligible Head Nurses to the

post of Nursing Superintendent Grade-II, within a period

of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this

judgment. The petitioners may produce a copy of this

judgment along with a copy of the writ petition before

the first respondent.
