	Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to fix the seniority of the petitioner in the post of Police Constable Grade-II, with reference to the date of his initial appointment on 9.6.1993 and grant consequential service and monetary benefits.

ORDER

The writ petition is filed for a direction against the respondents to fix the seniority of the petitioner in the post of Police Constable Grade II with reference to his initial date of appointment, viz., 9.6.1993 and also grant consequential service and monetary benefits.

2.Even though the writ petition is filed for the said direction, the learned counsel for the petitioner would fairly submit that the petitioner has in fact preferred an appeal to the 1st respondent, the Director General of Police, on 5.6.2006 stating out his grievances and the
petitioner will be satisfied if a direction is given to the 1st respondent to dispose of the appeal within a specified time.

3.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as Mr.A.Edwin Prabhakar, learned Government Advocate taking notice on behalf of the respondents.

4.Considering the said submission made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, the 1st respondent is directed to consider the appeal preferred by the petitioner dated 5.6.2006 in respect of the fixation of the petitioner’s seniority in the post of Police Constable Grade II and pass appropriate orders within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5.With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
