Background
1. The Applicant filed an RTI request dt.4.11.08 with the CPIO, AIR, New Delhi.
He requested for the year-wise break-up details of needle-hour broadcast of
their songs through AIR starting from the financial year 1986-87 to 31.3.08.
On not receiving a reply, he filed a complaint dt.10.12.08 before the CIC.
2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner, scheduled the
hearing for March 5, 2009.
3. Mr. L.S. Bajpai, Station Director & CPIO, Mr. Pramod Kumar, Programme
Executive and Mr. Jatan Singh, Head Clerk represented the Public Authority.
4. The Applicant was not present during the hearing.
Decision
5. The Respondent submitted that the AIR New Delhi (Hindi Station) never had
any dealings with the M/s Lahari Recording Company for which the
Complainant had sought the information. He also stated that no details were
given by the Complainant regarding language of the songs or the categories
of the songs he was seeking. Accordingly, the CPIO replied on 15.12.08
informing the Complainant that information cannot be provided since he has
not mentioned the language or category of the songs . The Complainant
however never got back to the AIR with the required information.
6. The Commission advises the Complainant to provide the information as
sought by the PIO and the CPIO to provide the information within one month
of receipt of the information from the Complainant.
7. The appeal is disposed off.
