The Appellant had filed an application regarding the matter related to get the duplicate copy of House
Tax receipt of Rs. 427/- for the year 2006-07 in r/o Property No. J-52/1, Vishnu Garden, New Delhi.
The PIO’s Reply:
“It is informed that duplicate copy of the receipt by which the Appellant states to have deposited
property tax for the year 2006-07 in respect of Property No. J-52/1, Vishnu Garden, New Delhi cannot
be provided in the absence of receipt number and date, as the Dept. is unable to trace the same without
the receipt number.”

The appellant wants a duplicate receipt for his payment.
The respondent states that the MCD is changing from manual accounting to computerized
accounting since 2004. In the process the accounts are not uptodate and that a battery of
people is trying to post the accounts of the last few years.
If this is indeed the case it is not possible to understand how the accounts of the Corporation
have been made during these periods or its accounts presented to the Corporation. The
Commission directs that the Chief Accountant will give an explanation about this to the
Commission before 15 January 2009.
Decision:
Appeal is disposed.
The Chief Accountant will give an explanation of how the accounts of the Municipal
Corporation of Delhi are being maintained or giving a true reflection of the accounts if
the postings have not been updated during the last four years.
