Background:
1. The RTI-request was filed on 29 October 2007. The Applicant requested
for information against two points: (i) the name and frequencies of the Tabla
Players who gave programmes in General category for the financial year 2006-
07 and (ii) whether a Tabla player can be accompanied by artists in a booking
and the number of such artists .
2. Not getting any reply from the PIO, the Applicant approached the
Central Information Commission with a complaint on 11 December 2007 which
was registered in the Commission on 16 April 2008.
3. The Bench of Smt. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner,
scheduled the hearing for 11 December 2008.
4. Neither the Respondents nor the Complainant attended the hearing.
Decision:
5. The Commission noted that from the facts given in the complaint, the
Respondents have not provided any information to the Complainant nor did
they turn up for the hearing
6. Since the PIO has failed to respond to the RTI-application mentioned
above, in time, he is required to show cause as to why a penalty of
Rs.25,000/- for delay in supply of information may not be levied upon him.
This written submission should reach the Commission on or before 15 January
2008.
7. The Commission also directs the PIO to provide the information sought
by the Complainant within 15 days of receipt of this Order.
8. The Commission orders accordingly.
