Title: Need to sanction additional four lakh houses under Indira Awas Yojana for super cyclone and flood affected areas in Orissa -Laid.
(JAGATSINGHPUR) : Given the weak Revenue base and undeveloped economy of Orissa due to natural calamities like flood, drought and cyclone of severe nature; high interest rate of Central Government and open market loan; high proportion of 70% of loan component in central plan assistance, it is becoming almost impossible to arrange 25% of its share in I.A.Y. meant for Super Cyclone and Flood affected families. The present government is trying its best to put the fiscal management on even keel.
The Government of India knows that houses of nineteen lakh families were razed to the ground by the super cyclone on October, 1999. The Government of India so far sanctioned only four lakh houses to be rebuilt under I.A.Y. in the super cyclone affected area. I urge upon the Hon’ble Prime Minister to see that another four lakh houses under I.A.Y. be sanctioned in the super cyclone and flood affected areas this financial year positively and bear the burden of 25% of State’s share including the previous sanctioned Houses.
