CBI grants bail to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in Castration Case

HARYANA: Gurmeet Ram Rahim, the spiritual head of Dera Sacha Sauda has been granted bail by the Panchkula Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in the castration case.

In the castration case, the Panchkula court had recently framed charges of cheating, criminal intimidation and the one for causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons against Gurmeet. Ram Rahim, however, will remain in jail as he is serving a 20-year jail term after being convicted in rape cases.

Earlier, the Panchkula CBI court had framed charges including those pertaining to voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means, cheating and criminal intimidation against Ram Rahim Singh. The bail granted to him pertains to the castration case where it was found that Ram Rahim had forcibly castrated 400 male devotees belonging to Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan.

In 2015, the CBI had registered a case against Ram Rahim and others alleged criminal conspiracy for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons among other charges under the Indian Penal Code.
