A Delhi court is likely to take cognisance of a charge sheet filed against Ketan Desai, former President of Medical Council of India (MCI), and five others for allegedly accepting Rupees two crore as bribe for according recognition to a private a medical college in Punjab.
“Fresh charge sheet filed. The same be checked and registered. Put up the matter for cognisance of the charge sheet on October 10,” Special Judge Dharmesh Sharma said.
The court took into records the charge sheet which was filed by CBI after more than a year of arrest of Desai and three others – J P Singh, Kamaljeet Singh and Sukhvinder Singh –in connection with the case of alleged graft.
Besides the four accused, who were arrested by CBI on April 22 last year, the agency has arraigned two others, K A Paul and PGF Limited Chairman-cum-Managing Director N S Bhangoo as accused in its charge sheet.
The charge sheet has accused Desai of accepting Rupees two crore bribe to give permission to Gyan Sagar Medical College at Patiala to induct a fresh batch of students for academic session 2010-2011 without having the requisite infrastructure.
