NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday sought the Centre’s respond to a plea asking the government to trace all the patients who have been fitted with faulty hip implants supplied by a multinational company.
A report filed by an expert committee, which was set up by the health ministry in 2017, suggested that the company had ‘suppressed’ facts on the harmful effects of the faulty hip replacement system.
Heading the Bench, Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi also asked the government to file its response on the PIL, which alleged that faulty implants were used for hip replacement surgeries.
