Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar Appoints Justice Anant Badar as Chairperson of BSHRC

In a significant development, former Patna High Court Judge, Justice Anant Badar, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Bihar State Human Rights Commission (BSHRC). This noteworthy appointment was made official through a notification issued by Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.

In an exclusive conversation with Bar & Bench, Justice Badar expressed his readiness to assume the responsibilities of his new role in the near future.

Justice Anant Badar’s illustrious legal career includes his initial appointment as a Judge of the Bombay High Court on March 3, 2014, where he dedicated almost six years of service. Subsequently, he was transferred to the Kerala High Court in June 2020 and later to the Patna High Court on October 20, 2021.

Prior to his tenure as a High Court Judge, Justice Badar held key positions in the subordinate judiciary of Maharashtra, commencing in November 2000. Notably, he served as an Additional District & Sessions Judge in Akola and Wardha, and also contributed as a Member at the Industrial Tribunal in Nagpur. His accomplishments also include holding the position of Principal District and Sessions Judge in Pune.

Justice Badar’s journey to the Bombay High Court included a role as the Registrar (Vigilance) of the High Court. With a career spanning 23 years in the judiciary, he retired from the High Court in August of this year, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of legal service.
