High Court rejects writ for dismissal of Shatrughan’s election

A petition seeking cancellation of election of actor-politician Shatrughan Singha from Patna Saheb parliamentary seat has been rejected by The Patna High Court rejected

Justice V N Sinha did not find merit in the petition of one Ghanshyam Lal Jamuar who had demanded cancellation of the poll in the constituency in 2009 in which Shatrughan Sinha was elected.

The complainant had sought cancellation and order for fresh elections on the ground that his nomination had been rejected on “frivolous ground”.

The court did not find merit in the complaint and dismissed the petition observing it is based on unsubstantial ground.

Shatrughan Sinha who had contested Patna Saheb Lok Sabha seat in the capital town as a BJP candidate had defeated his nearest RJD rival by over three lakh votes in 2010.
