IRCTC Scam: Delhi court grants interim bail to RJD Chief Lalu Prasad

NEW DELHI: Former Bihar chief minister and RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav gets interim bail till January 19 by Delhi’s Patiala court in two Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) scam cases filed by the CBI and the ED. 

The court directed both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to file their replies to Prasad’s application seeking regular bail in both the cases. Lalu, who is serving a jail term in Ranchi in a connection with a fodder scam case was granted interim bail after he was produced before the court through video conference from a Ranchi jail.

The court had earlier granted regular bail to Prasad’s wife Rabri Devi and son Tejashwi Yadav in connection with the cases. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) case, being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for
alleged irregularities in granting operational contract of two IRCTC (Railways) hotels to a private firm.
