Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Tuesday moved the Supreme Court challenging a Bangalore court order directing her to appear before it again Nov 8 in a disproportionate assets case involving Rs.66 crore.

She contended that she was asked by the supreme court to appear before the trial court hearing the case against her Oct 20-21, which she has complied with.

She was asked 576 question during the two-day hearing.

Jayalalithaa contended that she could not be asked to appear before the trial court again.

She was asked by the trial court Oct 21 to appear again before it Nov 8 as her questioning was not complete.

The Tamil Nadu chief minister is facing trial in a disproportionate assets case that relates to 1991-1996 when she headed the state for the first of her so far three terms.

The trial in the case was shifted outside Chennai by the supreme court in 2003 to ensure free and fair trial.
