
After the operation, the women were not provided with beds and had to sleep on the floor. Some beds were later arranged only after the media reported the matter. The women also had to wait for hours as the doctors arrived late.
“The commission has observed that the contents of the press report, if true, raise serious issue of violation of right to health and dignity of the women,” the NHRC said. “Taking suo motu cognizance of the report, we have issued notice to the chief secretary of the state and district magistrate, Kanker, calling for a report within two weeks,” it said.
