Poonam, an 18-year-old from a Gurgaon village, had consumed poison outside the office of deputy commissioner P.C. Meena.
Meena was in office when the incident occurred.
The woman was hospitalised and booked under Section 309 of the Indian Penal Code for attempted suicide. She was presented in a court Saturday and granted bail.
According to Santra Devi, her two daughters – Poonam and Parveen – owned over half an acre of land, which their cousin, Sunder Singh, proposed to buy for Rs.1 crore.
He gave us Rs 5 lakh as token money and promised to give the rest of the money at the time of the registry on April 18. However, the buyer failed to turn up at the last moment. We told the registrar not to do the deal. However, the naib tehsildar ignored our written complaint and signed the registry papers, she said.
