NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court dismissed a plea seeking the cancellation of Shashi Tharoor’s anticipatory bail granted by a trial court in the Sunanda Pushkar death case.
The petition, filed by Advocate Deepak Anand, was dismissed by Justice RK Gauba. The judge said he would give reasons for his decision later. The order came after the lawyer failed to convince the court that his plea was maintainable after it asked him to “show why should your plea be entertained”.
On September 25, the Delhi Police had partly supported the plea where the Delhi Police Standing Counsel (Criminal) Rahul Mehra informed the high court that Tharoor ought to have first gone to the magisterial court that had summoned him as an accused, to seek bail.
Pushkar was found dead in a suite of a luxury hotel in South Delhi on January, 17, 2014.
