Giving relief to Sikkim High Court Chief Justice P.D. Dinakaran, the Supreme Court on Friday stayed the impeachment proceedings against him.
The apex court issued notices to Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari and advocate P.P. Rao. Justice Dinakaran had alleged bias by Rao — one of the members of the impeachment committee — since he was one of the complainants against him.
They have been asked to file their replies in two weeks. The matter would now be taken up by a vacation bench.
