Tobacco sold in plastic packs?

The Supreme Court Thursday asked the government to report how its order banning the use of plastic pouches to pack chewing tobacco was being implemented.

 A bench of Justice G.S. Singhvi and Justice H.L. Dattu decided to pass further orders if its earlier order of Dec 7, 2010 was not been complied with in its entirety. The ban was imposed March 2011.

 The directions came in the course of the hearing of an application seeking initiation of proceedings against certain companies which allegedly sell chewing tobacco in plastic
