Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar sworn-in as CJ of Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh: In a simple ceremony which was held in here in the Raj Bhawan, Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar has got sworn-in as Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

Governor Urmila Singh administered the oath of office at a simple but impressive ceremony attended by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and his Cabinet colleagues, besides Leader of Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal and senior government functionaries.

After taking the oath he told that, ‘I am happy to be here.’

He said he was grateful that he got an opportunity to serve the people of this part of the country.

‘Now I would say this is my state,’ he added. Born on July 30, 1957, Chief Justice Khanwilkar, who was elevated from the Bombay High Court, belongs to Pune in Maharashtra.

  1. Justice Khanvilkar is great personality. i had several occassions to appear before him, in bombay high court when he would sit single and handled rent act matters. he never tolerated difficiency in any administrative work and he was perfect in knowledge of law.
