Molestation: AP minister’s son sent in 2-day PC

Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Minister Ravela Kishore Babu’s son Susheel and his driver were on Saturday booked for allegedly molesting a 20-year-old woman teacher in Banjara Hills here, police said.

It is alleged that Susheel and his driver M. Ramesh followed the victim in their car, passed lewd comments and tried to pull her inside the vehicle on Thursday evening. The woman claimed that she raised an alarm following which her husband, who was nearby, and some locals gathered at the spot and beat up the accused.

A local court today granted the police a two-day custody of Ravela Susheel, the son of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Minister Ravela Kishore Babu, and his driver, arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a 20-year-old woman.

The court rejected the bail applications of Susheel and his driver M Ramesh who were arrested on Sunday and are at present in judicial custody.

The police had sought their custody for three days. They have been booked under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of IPC.

According to the complainant, a teacher, a car with ‘MLA’ sticker on windshield followed her when she was returning from the school on Thursday evening.

The driver and a passenger in the car, who were drunk, passed lewd remarks and asked her to get in. The passenger, who had a tattoo on his hand, tried to pull her inside, she said in the complaint.

She raised an alarm and her husband, who was nearby, and some others reached the spot and beat up Susheel and his driver.

Both surrendered before the police on Sunday.
