Murder of Paramour: Woman got 7 yrs RI

A widow has been sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment by a local court for murder of her paramour, a Roman catholic priest.

District and sessions judge S Solaimalai also slapped a fine of Rs 500 on Stella Mary, in default of which she would have to undergo two years RI and another Rs 200 fine or six months Simple Imprisonment for stealing the victim’s cell phone and money after the murder.

The prosecution case was that Mary, who was staying with Selvaraj insisted that he marry her when they were staying in a guest house here on October 5, 2008.However Selvaraj, who was then working in Ramanathapuram, refused, saying he could not do so as he was a Roman Catholic priest.

After a heated exchange Stella Mary smashed his head against a wall, inflicting serious injuries and he died on the spot.Later after the murder Stella Mary took away Rs 2,000 from the priest’s pocket and escaped.
