Two persons were today sentenced to life imprisonment by a court here for murdering a70-year old woman farmer in 2015.
District Mahila Court Judge N Thirunavukkarasu awarded life sentence to Annadurai (45) and Murugan (48) of Vengambur for murdering Pavayee.
According to prosecution, the accused had murdered the woman by slitting her throat when she noticed them after they entered her thatched hut looking for cash and jewels on April 23, 2015 at Vengambur, 45 km from here.
They had targeted Pavayee, who owned a small piece of land, assuming that she had jewels and cash, but could not find anything in the hut.
