An act further to amend the Railways Act, 1989.

BE it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty-fourth Year of the Republic

of India as follows:-

Short title and commencement.

 

1. Short title and commencement.-(1) This Act may be called the

Railways (Amendment) Act, 2003.

(2) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government

may, by

notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.

Amendment of section 137.

 

2. Amendment of section 137.-In section 137 of the Railways Act,

1989 (24 of 1989) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in

sub-section (3), for the words “fifty rupees”, the words “two hundred

and fifty rupees” shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 138.

 

3. Amendment of section 138.-In section 138 of the principal Act, in

sub-section (3), for the words “fifty rupees”, the words “two hundred

and fifty rupees” shall be substituted.
