In a surprising revelation, Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker of the Allahabad High Court has voiced his belief that his transfer from the Chhattisgarh High Court, orchestrated by the Collegium led by then Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra, was driven by “ill-intentions.”

Addressing attendees at his farewell ceremony, Justice Diwaker asserted that the transfer to Allahabad seemed to have been executed with the aim of causing him distress. Despite the perceived adversity, he expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received from fellow judges and members of the legal community.

Justice Diwaker credited the current CJI, DY Chandrachud, for rectifying the perceived injustice. The recent Collegium under CJI Chandrachud recommended Justice Diwaker for the position of Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court earlier in the year.

Enrolled as a member of the Bar Council of Madhya Pradesh in 1984, Justice Diwaker attained the status of Senior Advocate in January 2005, as designated by the High Court of Chhattisgarh. He served on the Madhya Pradesh State Bar Council for seven years and the State Bar Council of Chhattisgarh for five years.

Having been appointed as a judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court on March 31, 2009, Justice Diwaker experienced a transfer to the Allahabad High Court on October 3, 2018, following eight and a half years of service in Chhattisgarh. His journey continued as he assumed the role of Acting Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court on February 13 of the current year, eventually being appointed as the Chief Justice on March 26.
