The M S University of Baroda set up in 1949 was the dream project of the visionary ruler Sir Sayaji Rao Gaekwad III. It is an internationally renowned University with about 35000 students drawn from all over the world. It is the only English Medium University in the State of Gujarat. The city of Vadodara, one of the fastest developing cities of the State, is recognized as a distinguished educational and cultural centre of the country.
Faculty of Law
The Faculty of Law, M.S.University of Baroda has been a premier law institute in Gujarat since the sixties. It presently offers various courses like LLB (3 years),B.A.LLB (Hons) LLM (Business Law), LLM (Criminal Law), Post Graduate Diploma in Taxation Practice, Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Practice and PhD. programme. Over the years, the Faculty has expanded quantitatively as well as qualitatively to meet the ever increasing educational needs of the cosmopolitan city of Vadodara.
Globalization, liberalization and the information technology revolution has had a profound impact on law and legal institutions – worldwide and in India. A rapidly growing global market in legal services and information has changed the structure of the legal profession in India as well. To answer this global need a new and totally innovative legal thinking is required. With this object in mind, Faculty of Law has started to “Baroda School of Legal Studies”, which imparts Five Years Law Degree Programme in the year 2005 to advance and disseminate learning and knowledge of law and to make law and legal process an efficient instrument of social development. The Faculty of Law has produced several eminent lawyers and judges of the Gujarat High Court.
