                 W.P.(C).No.5230 of 2008 v
           -------------------------
Dated this the 10th day of March, 2008.

                         JUDGMENT

The petitioner, who has been working as Ferryman in

Kacherikadavu-Veluthuruthu under the 1st respondent Grama

Panchayath, has approached this court with this writ petition

seeking a direction to the Panchayath to appoint him as Ferryman

in the existing vacancy, which according to him, had arisen on

30.1.2008.

2. Notice was issued to the 1st respondent Grama

Panchayath. Sri.K.S.Manu, learned counsel appearing for the 1st

respondent, on instructions, submits that there is no post of

Ferryman since recently a bridge has been constructed. This issue

was considered by the Panchayath in its meeting held on

20.2.2008 and the Panchayath has decided that it is no longer

necessary to conduct a ferry at the expenditure of the

panchayath. It is, therefore, clear that there is no post of

Ferryman currently available. This submission is recorded.

3. In the circumstances, I do not find my way to issue

any directions to the respondents as such. If the petitioner has

any surviving grievance, it is for the petitioner to approach the

panchayath.

Subject to the above observation, this writ petition is

dismissed.
