Title: Demand to create more awareness for the AIDS disease in the country.
(चांदनी चौक) : महोदय, आज विश्व एड्स दिवस है और मुझे लगता है कि पूरे सदन को इसकी चिन्ता होनी चाहिए। आज हम पूरे देश के सरकारी आंकड़ों को देखें तो पता चलेगा कि एचआईवी का प्रकोप भारत में अत्यधिक गंभीर स्थिति उत्पन्न कर रहा है। सरकारी आंकड़ों के हिसाब से ३७ लाख से ज्यादा वयस्क आज एड्स की बीमारी से ग्रसित हैं, मुझे लगता है कि इससे भी ज्यादा आंकड़ें हो सकते हैं। १८ से ४० साल की उम्र के लोगों में एड्स ज्यादा है, ऐसा बताया जाता है। लालकिले से स्वयं प्रधानमंत्री जी ने सन् २००० में इस बात पर चिन्ता व्यक्त की थी। उन्होंने कहा था कि “तेजी से बढ़ रहा एचआईवी, एड्स का रोग हमारे देश के लिए गंभीर चुनौती बन गया है। मैं समाज के सभी वर्गों से अपील करता हूं कि इस महामारी के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने में पूर्ण रूप से भाग लें। उन्हें अपने आचरण में आवश्यक बदलाव भी लाना चाहिए ताकि इस भयावह रोग को नियंत्रित किया जा सके।”
महोदय, मैं इतना ही कहना चाहता हूं कि आई एंड बी मनिस्ट्री दूरदर्शन के द्वारा ज्यादा से ज्यादा लोगों को एड्स के बारे में शक्षित कर सकती है, परन्तु दुर्भाग्य यह है कि हम वभिन्न चैनलों और दूरदर्शन के माध्यम से इस बीमारी के बारे में बहुत ज्यादा नहीं बता रहे हैं। दूसरी बात यह है कि जितना पोस्टल मेटरियल है, पोस्ट-कार्ड, लिफाफे आदि हैं, उन पर हम संदेश दे सकते हैं। तीसरी बात यह है कि हम ज्यादा से ज्यादा एनजीओज़ को प्रेरित करके एड्स की बीमारी के खिलाफ लड़ाई लड़ सकते हैं।

SHRI RAJIV PRATAP RUDY (CHHAPRA): Today is the World AIDS Day and I think the whole House would associate itself with this issue because it is an issue which concerns the whole world. AIDS in India is spreading like an epidemic. Mostly it is the youth in the age group between 18 and 40 years which is being affected by this disease. We must create more awareness, we should take the House into confidence and spread the message in the country today. The whole House stands consolidated on this issue.

SHRIMATI RENUKA CHOWDHURY (KHAMMAM): We want a debate on this. We should have at least an Half-an-Hour Discussion. The whole House should adopt a Resolution and spread it out in the country.
