            Council, Maur.

                                 ORDER

Rakesh Kumar Garg, J. (Oral):

Shri D.S. Bains, Principal Secretary to Govt. of Punjab,

Department of Local Bodies is present in court and has explained that

necessary steps are being taken to improve the financial health of the

Municipal Councils in the State of Punjab. According to Shri Bains, in the

present case, 30 employees have been declared surplus and remedial

measures (i.e., either to transfer them out or to terminate their services in

accordance with law) are being taken.

A short affidavit of Shri Bhupinder Singh Sra, Executive
COCP No.894 of 2008 -: 2 :-

Officer of Municipal Council, Maur has also been filed in the court, which

is taken on record.

Shri Rupinder Khosla, learned counsel, on instructions from

Bhupinder Singh Sra – respondent No.3, states that upto date salary of the

petitioners has been paid and even statutory payment to their provident fund

and pension contributory fund accounts have been updated.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of respondent No.3 has

also assured that the individual details of the petitioners with regard to

salary, provident fund and pension contributory funds shall be supplied to

them within a week from today.

In view of the aforesaid categoric statement, I am not inclined

to proceed further in this petition.

Rule discharged.

However, if the aforesaid assertion made by counsel for

respondent No.3, on instructions from the Executive Officer, is found to be

false, the petitioners may file an application for revival of the contempt

petition.

Disposed of.
