Background
1. The Applicant filed an RTI application dated 11.05.09 with the
CPIO/BSNL, New Delhi, seeking information about a copy of notification
that contains revised pay scales to be implemented with effect from
01.01.07, in respect of BSNL executives. The CPIO replied on 01.06.09
intimating that the requisite information as available in his office is
ready, and requested the Applicant to pay additional fee of Rs. 20/- as
stationary charges. Being aggrieved by the order of the CPIO, the
Applicant filed a First Appeal before the Appellate Authority on 24.06.09
reiterating his request for the information. The First Appellate Authority
in his letter dated 02.07.09 stated that the said additional fee is still
awaited from the Applicant and requested him to send the same so as to
enable the office to supply the information. Aggrieved with this reply,
the Applicant filed a Second Appeal before the CIC on 16.07.09.
2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner, scheduled
the hearing on 9th September, 2009.
3. Mr. Brahma Prakash, Deputy Manager, BSNL represented to the Public
Authority.
4. The Applicant was not present during the hearing.
Decision
5. The Commission after hearing the Respondent, advices the Appellant to
pay Rs. 20/- toward stationary charges, as ordered by the Appellate
Authority to enable the CPIO to furnish the information.
6. The appeal is accordingly disposed off.
