Facts
:-
Through RTI request dated 17/07/2009 the applicant sought information from the
CPIO, LIC of India, Branch Office no: one, two, three and four under Divisional Office,
Kanpur regarding list of agents against whom complaints had been received for offering
policyholders rebate on commission in order to expand their insurance business.
2. The CPIO and the First Appellate Authority provide information to the applicant
after obtaining the same from the various branches listed above vide their letter is dated
31/08/2009, 01/09/2009 and 25/09/2010.
3. Not being satisfied with the information provided to him vide the above orders, the
applicant preferred complaint before the Commission which was heard today through video
conferencing. Both parties were present as above.
4. Respondent stated that they had not received any complaints pertaining to offering of
rebate by agents of the Corporation to prospective clients in order to increase their insurance
business. As such this information was provided to the complainant.
Decision
5. In view of the averments of the respondents, the Commission is satisfied that no
further action is required to be taken by the respondent and proposed penalty proceedings are
dropped.
