Background
1. The Applicant filed an RTI application dt.10.9.08 with the CPIO, Dept. of
Posts, New Delhi. He requested for information against 8 points with regard
to the progress on his three applications made to the Deptt. of Posts,
including the daily progress made on the applications, names and
designations of officials with whom the applications were lying and the
number of days in which such a matter is resolved. On not receiving any
reply, he filed a complaint dt.17.10.08 before the CIC.
2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner, scheduled the
hearing for March 4, 2009.
3. Mr. Dinesh Kumar, SSPOs, West Divn, Delhi and CPIO andMr. Rakesh
Paniwani, IPO-PG represented the Public Authority.
4. The Applicant was present along with Dr. Manjeet Singh Bawa during the
hearing.
Decision
5. The CPIO is directed to provide an affidavit informing the Complainant about
the action taken on the concerned officials with regard to the complaints
within 15 days of the receipt of this Order.
6. The CPIO is also directed to show cause as to why a penalty of Rs. 250/- per
day should not be imposed on him for not replying to the RTI request within
the mandatory period. The response to reach the Commission within 15 days
of receipt of this Order.
5. The appeal is disposed off.
